Overview
Directly upgrading AdsPower 4.0 to the latest version may cause compatibility issues between the old and new cache directories. As a result, the new version may be unable to read the existing cache data. This guide provides a solution that allows the upgraded version to continue using historical cache data.
I. Windows Instructions
Step 1: Locate the cache directory used by the old version.
• Open Settings in the old version and find the cache directory path.
• Alternatively, locate the old cache directory manually and copy the folder path.
• If the cache directory is hidden, open the corresponding disk drive in File Explorer and enable View → Hidden Items.
Step 2: Download and install the latest version from our official website:
https://www.adspower.net/download
• Log out of your account in the old version.
• Sign in to your account in the new version.
• In the new version, go to Settings and enable the New Version System Log.
Step 3: In the new version, navigate to:
Top-left Menu → File → Log Directory
Locate the DATA_KEEP_FILE text file inside the cwd_global folder.
Step 4: Open DATA_KEEP_FILE with a text editor.
Modify its content so that the directory name matches the cache directory name used by the old version, then save the file.
Important:
Make sure only one version of AdsPower is configured to use the cache directory. It is recommended to use the New Version only. Running multiple versions simultaneously may cause cache conflicts.
